Our Constitution
n February 1890, representatives of the six Australian colonies and New Zealand met at the Australasian Federation Conference in Melbourne and agreed that a national convention should be convened to consider federation. The first draft of the Constitution was produced at the National Australasian Convention in Sydney in 1891 and was substantially reconsidered at the Australasian Federal Convention of 1897–98.
